For a better overall view of Los Angeles, zoom out two or three levels using the zoom scale on the left side of the map. It's a lot of area to cover!

What does one need to say about Los Angeles? Los Angeles is the major west coast cruise port, hosting several different cruise lines, and serving as the gateway to several west coast itineraries, including the Mexican Riviera, Baja California, Catalina Island, Hawaii and Alaska.

The Mexican Riviera itinerary is probably best known from the 1977-1986 TV show "The Love Boat", which starred the original Pacific Princess and hosted new guest stars each week for the hour-long cruise to ports which included Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco. In what is probably a mixed blessing, I suspect that most Americans still hold the concept of a Cruise Vacation from their memory of this television show.

The two cruise terminals are located about 25 miles south of the downtown Los Angeles area, one in San Pedro and the other in Long Beach. The terminals are about 5 miles apart, which is close in Los Angeles terms, but probably a good idea to make sure which one your cruise will be using as you plan your transportation. Each area has several excellent hotels from which to choose for a pre-cruise stay.

Southern California has a multitude of attractions that can be combined with your cruise vacation.
