Ocho Rios is one of the anchor cruise stops on the Western Caribbean itinerary.
Probably the best known excursion is the hike up Dunns River Falls. This is
a waterfall which flows directly into the Caribbean Sea. You will be delivered
to the excursion site at the top of the falls, then walk down a paved path to
the bottom. From there, starting right on the edge of the sea, you will make your way
back up the falls, usually in groups for help and safety, with the refreshing
water rushing by you all the way.
For those who don't wish to actually hike in the water, there are wooden steps
beside the river which provide a great vantage for taking pictures of your more
I took these GPS coordinates during my visit here in October 2003. You cannot see
the river in the picture due to the extensive tree cover. You can see the water
disturbance where the river empties into the sea.
This is a classic Western Caribbean experience, everyone should try it at least
