The Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center, a brand new cruise terminal, is noted
by the marker in the lower left area of the map. The terminal opened for use
in April 2007, and many hope it will lure a steady stream of cruise ship traffic
to downtown Norfolk, VA. The terminal is adjacent to many tourist attractions, including
Nauticus, the retirement home of the USS Wisconsin, one of the final four US Battleships
ever built to completion.
Cedar Grove Parking, the parking lot associated with the cruise terminal, is about a
mile away. Shuttle busses run continuously during times of cruise ship embarkation
and disembarkation.
Also featured as markers on this map are the Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk
International Airport, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, which all ships
leaving from Norfolk and anywhere inside the Chesapeake Bay must cross to reach
the Atlantic Ocean.
